When folks ask what I do and I tell them I am an interpretative fiber artist I usually get slow blinks and blank stares. What this means to me is that I dye from inspiration. I interpret ideas expressed in books, visuals formed while listening to music, images from pop culture and recently architecture and my local hometown of Kansas City, Missouri and turn these things into colorways for yarn and fiber.
I was honored to find that my colorway inspired by the historic Western Auto Building in downtown Kansas City was featured in Vogue Knitting Magazine Spring/Summer 2015 edition. It's wonderful to know that folks feel I have represented my inspiration in a way that speaks to them. I feel truly blessed and will keep searching for the next colorway.
The entire Kansas City collection can be viewed here in the catalog. If you would like to see your LYS hometown represented in fiber please contact me. I would love to talk to you about what you love where you are!
