Yarn Info

A quick note about how colors may look on different bases:

Choosing the base the colorway is dyed on for the photo will get the most accurate representation of the colorway. Each yarn is hand dyed and due to the hand dyeing process each yarn may be slightly different. Additionally, the fiber type and blend may take up color differently than the yarn or fiber photoed. Please take some time to learn about the different bases offered and when in doubt please ask!

                            • Colors are a little more muted, subtle & blended on non-superwash yarns -  non-superwash yarns do not have as much of a distinct color separation that superwash does. It is the nature of the wool, not a defect.

                                          • Measured at 24 wpi before blooming but knits up with larger gauge needles wonderfully for a summer weight project.
                                          • Takes color similar to the bamboo blends as the linen heathers the dye & silk dyes a little lighter.
                                          • For best results set your project with a trip through the washer and dryer to relax the linen and bloom the yarn.

                                                About the Dye Process
I dye my colorways with several different processes in my commercial studio. All dyes used on Nerd Girl Yarns products are professional colorfast dyes. Some colors such as saturated reds, pinks, and turquoise shades of blue may bleed in the wash. This is normal for textile dyes that are of these saturated shades. I recommend my grandmother's habit of a little vinegar in the rinse to keep colors nice and bright as well as helping keep your wool soft.
